Inspired by the title of Sofia Coppola’s new film LOST IN TRANSLATION, this course looks at the phenomenon of foreign language films in the UK. Popular, often Oscar-backed hits such as AMELIE and NOWHERE IN AFRICA will be discussed and compared to smaller productions. In this context the notion of art cinema and its boundaries will also be explored.
