LAB #2 Working on Sex Education / Creating a killer look.

Ever wondered how the vibrant look of Netflix teen comedy-drama Sex Education was created? Or what exactly a production designer does? Want to know what you can do to create a killer look with or without a big budget?

Bafta-nominated designer Samantha Harley discusses how she works with creative teams to imagine and create unique and distinctive worlds, drawing on her experience on shows like Netflix teen comedy-drama Sex Education, Year of the Rabbit, Catastrophe, Detectorist, commercials and low budget shorts.

We will find out how she gained valuable experience on set (on films like Attack the Block and Four Lions) and learned valuable skills before managing her own department, schedules and budgets.

A session for anyone who loves shows that create a specific sense of place and time through their visuals and is curious about how they’re made.

This is a free online event.

This activity is part of the UK-wide BFI Film Academy programme and is supported using funds from the National Lottery #NationalLottery @bfifilmacademy.
