Artist Jasmeen Patheja will lead a women only discussion in the galleries, providing an insight into her work in the exhibition and issues facing women in both India and the UK. The term Kitty Party refers to the convention in India of a group of woman who meet and collect a kitty for their next party.
This talk is part of the ATM08 Teahouse Discussion series: Teahouse Discussions will take place in the City Centre and across Greater Manchester during Asia Triennial Manchester 08. A favourite pastime across Asia and other parts of the world, teahouse discussions will provide an opportunity for people to talk about relevant and contemporary issues and themes – social and political, local and global – while sampling a selection of teas brought over from the artists’ home countries.
