Pranzo di Ferragosto (Mid-August Lunch) will form the basis for a wide range of language activities and exercises designed to enhance vocabulary and communication skills. Students will be encouraged to explore themes raised in the film including: home life, family, choices, responsibilities, and personal relationships; thus lending itself to a wide range of topics covered by the GCSE specification.

Gianni is in his 60s but still living with his widowed mother. One evening he finds himself coerced into taking care of the local bar owner’s mother during the August bank holiday. Gianni suffers a turbulent twenty-four hours until it’s finally time to say goodbye, but the women in his care have other ideas.
