This INSET is designed to help teachers of GCSE Media Studies (AQA syllabus) with a specific focus on the controlled test topic for 2008. This full day session will include an overview of situation comedy, including a brief history, an analysis of current trends and developments and discussion of its role as light entertainment and as a vehicle for serious social critiques. Clive Edwards will also present textual analyses of a range of sitcoms and studies of media theories in relation to sitcoms.
Teachers will also be provided with practical and research ideas including ideas for lesson plans and schemes of work.
