INSET: Latin American History and Culture on Film

Recommended for Spanish AS and A2 teachers. 

Capacity: 15 places.

This INSET will consider major trends within Latin American cinema, contextualising cinematic production with political, economic, social cultural and aesthetic issues. This INSET focuses upon Cuban and Argentinean cinema, examining the diverse aesthetic and political ways filmmakers defined the relationship between cinema and nation. We will focus on contemporary films since 1990 from both commercial and arthouse cinema, examining the main issues via a series of case studies of selected films.
