Generations of Change: Chinese Cinemas since 1960This course discusses the notion of Chinese Cinemas with reference to specific case studies from China and Hong Kong. Subjects covered will include fifth and sixth generation Chinese directors, Hong Kong new wave cinema, stars such as Gong Li and Maggie Cheung, and the representation of youth, history and culture. Films will include a rare showing of Xie Jin’s TWO STAGE SISTERS and SUZHOU RIVER. Led by Sarah Perks (Cinemas Education Officer at Cornerhouse) and Roy Stafford (Freelance film lecturer).
