French Study Morning: INDIGENES

In this French language study morning, Isabelle Vanderschelden will use Rachid Bouchareb’s moving war drama INDIGENES to illustrate the recent trend for revisiting war film genre in the context of French cinema. Topics covered will include issues of colonialism, patriotism and the nation, history and memory, as well as questions of personal identity regarding the different protagonists of the film, and the actors used to represent them. Isabelle Vanderschelden will provide an extended contextualising introduction in French, therefore intermediate to advanced level French is required.

Led by Isabelle Vanderschelden, Senior Lecturer in French at Manchester Metropolitan University. In collaboration with the Open University French Association.
