This course looks at contemporary French women directors and their significant place in French national cinema. It focuses on three directors: Coline Serreau, Tonie Marshall and Diane Kurys. The course does not require any prior knowledge of French cinema. The emphasis will be on genre, French society, culture and critical reception, rather than on gender issues.
