First Street Festival: The Untold Orchestra Sunday

The Untold Orchestra are a partner for First Street Festival and will be programming the artists you’ll see 1-3 July.

The Untold Orchestra are a collaborative orchestra made up of creative freelancers from across Manchester. Their aim is to play their role in supporting the amazing creativity present in communities across the city, through performances, workshops, collaborations and recording projects.

Recent projects include Nina @ the NIA (a show remembering the legacy of Nina Simone and her 1991 trip to the NIA Centre Hulme), collaborations with various artists including Bill Laurance, DRS, Skittles, The Lottery Winners and more, poetry and dance workshops with various communities in Manchester and the NIA Choir (a soul, blues and R&B choir for women* and non binary people held at the NIAMOS, Hulme).

Schedule

13.00 – Sean Rogan

The eclectic composer and Manchester-dweller Sean Rogan approaches music with a clear motive: to innovate, collaborate and communicate. Rogan’s back catalogue of musical projects has evolved over the years, from playing and writing with dream-pop outfit Diving Station, to Manchester’s ‘pop visionary’ MYTBE.

14.30 – Lakshmi

Described as an “absolute incredible talent” by Andrew Marston of BBC Introducing, Lakshmi is a Manchester based singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist with a background in classical music. 

16.00 – Ollie West

Ollie’s passion for writing has seen his music explore jazz, folk, pop, rock, prog and even classical music to create a truly unique sound.
