An illustrated lecture led by Dong Bingfeng, Deputy Director of the Iberia Centre for Contemporary Art in Beijing, exploring the trends in contemporary artists’ film in China including the rise of the independents, documentary film and experiments with media. During the talk, Bingfeng will argue that each of these three movements have emerged as the main formats of artists’ film, growing out of their conventional exhibiting spaces and cross-pollinating with theatre, performance and the internet.
