About this week’s DJs:

P-Ro Jones
P-Ro is a producer, vocalist and selector who brings soulful sounds from all across the globe. Frontwoman of neo-soul collective Lovescene, and resident at Wilderness Records and School of Electronic Music, she continues to champion Manchester’s music scene, collaborating with legends like Swing Ting, Dub Phizix, and many more to come.

Andrea Trout
Andrea Ahimie-Carthy may tell you she spins for fun – but don’t let that fool you. A lack of the usual ego associated with those serious chaps who stand behind turntables making equally serious faces while tweaking their beards, makes her prone to underestimate a passionate, educated, heartfelt and un-hackneyed approach to music. With deep house, disco, soul and funk at its core, Andrea’s open mindedness impacts on inevitably unhinged dancers and beard stroking listeners alike. She’d tell you too she has no interest in mixing, but her natural ability to put the records in the right order (and there is only ever one right order) so that those dancers and strokers can hear her story makes her one of the finest and most underestimated DJs Manchester has. There are precious few who can join the dots from new house to treasured boogie classics without struggling, worrying about perceptions of their cool or making a mess. Andrea makes it work every time because she feels it. Playing under the moniker Trout for most of the time this has not gone unnoticed. A typical review remarked, ‘hear a diversity of sounds from ‘80s soul to Brook Benton by way of good pop and funk from the future’.

SNO
Hailing from the township of Bophelong in South Africa SNO, born Selina Nongaliphe Oliphant, has always seen music as a beacon of strength and hope to the marginalised as her formative years were in the country’s apartheid era. Currently a resident of Manchester, she is woven very tightly into the city’s dynamic music scene.
She has been a resident at the critically acclaimed Manchester night, Banana Hill. This party was a ripe milieu for her to assert her star amongst industries’ greats. Another impressive feat occurring in the city is SNO’s monthly shows on NTS Manchester. The respected DJ/Producer Midland loves her work so much, he featured SNO on his NTS London show in 2019. Her record collection completely annihilates any modicum of genre specifications or classifications as she has been seen to be utterly comfortable both behind the booth and on radio in a myriad of genres including Jazz, Hip Hop, Footwork, Latin, boogie and at times the electronic side of things.

Chris Massey
Bolton born, now Manchester based. Chris wears many hats in various roles of the music industry, from DJ to promoter, programmer & artist director.
He is the label manager for long standing (and legendary) Manchester house label Paper Recordings and more recently he set up his own musical out put ‘Sprechen’, a label that focuses on music of all genres & styles.
His work with A Certain Ratio brought him radio support & plays on 6Music by Mary Ann Hobbs whilst his collaboration with DJ Paulette received support & radio plays by The Blessed Madonna on her Radio 1 show.
With a forward thinking mind set and a thirst to continue learning, Chris is always looking to expand his knowledge and up skill himself through new projects and collaborations, with a particular aim to work with like minded Manchester musical souls and creatives.
