To launch Choice Cuts, our new exhibition of the work of DR.ME in the Granada Foundation Galleries, we will host a musical mash-up to mirror the collage methods employed by the artists. Local DJ Duo Wasp Nest will partner with violinist Jote Osahn to present an electro-acoustic soundscape.
Jote studied violin at the Royal Northern College of Music and in Switzerland with folk/classical violinist Volker Biesenbender. She has worked with Nick Cave, Joan Armatrading, Elbow, Sia, Gloria Gaynor, Massive Attack, The Cinematic Orchestra, Gorillaz, Duran Duran, Bonobo, I am Kloot, and Tired Pony. More recently she has worked with Beth Orton, Kiran Leonard and is a member of the band I Am Your Autopilot.
Wasp Nest are David Dobson & Matthew Rothery, who specialise in seeking out experimental and beautifully crafted music with the intention of marrying opposing genres and styles with real personality and accessibility. For this event, they aim to bring some of the ambient pleasures of electronic music into its natural habitat of artistic expression.
