An introductory level afternoon course concentrating on one aspect of film studies. The focus of this course is genre, exploring definitions and debates using case studies such as the western and melodrama. The course will then depart from the classical, ‘pure’ forms to cover the development and deviations of popular genres. Led by Maggie Hoffgen, freelance film lecturer and regular Cornerhouse contributor. Beginners level – no knowledge needed.
