This two part course starts out by looking at the classic directors of Japanese cinema including Kurosawa, Mizhiguchi and Ozu before moving onto new wave filmmakers such as Hiroshi Teshigahara, and ending with the Yakuza genre. The second part of this course will start in January and focus on contemporary genres and auteurs including animation.
