Pilkington Chair of Art History at Manchester University, Professor Amelia Jones is internationally known as an author who has published a number of titles that explore practises and tendencies within Modernism and contemporary art. Irrational Modernism explores the history of New York Dada through the lens of the life of Baroness Elsa von Freytag-Loringhoven, a contemporary of Duchamp, Man Ray and Picabia who ‘Lived’ Dada. Cornerhouse is pleased to launch this in collaboration with the MIT press.Amelia Jones will read an excerpt from the book and will then be in dialogue with Fiona Barber, senior Lecturer in Art History at MMU. copies of the book will be available at a reduced rate.
