A unique opportunity to discover what decisions helped to inform the selection for this years Bloomberg New Contemporaries 2003 with selectors JJ Charlesworth (artist, writer, critic for Art Monthly, Modern Painters, Contemporary, & art critic for the Daily Telegraph) together with Hayley Newman (artist, represented by Matt’s Gallery)By nature a projection into the future, the selection for this years Bloomberg New Contemporaries 2003 hosts a broad survey of disciplines, including; Drawing, Performance, Photography, Film & Video, Sculpture, and Painting…What is conveyed through these commonly held languages? How are the works reconciled both to the idiosyncracies of their various concerns and in relation to the sensiblity of today? Selected artists Mark McGowan (performance), Laurence Elliot (Mixed Media) & Jamie Shovlin (Drawing), will also discuss their work in relation to their selection for this years exhibition.What threads, concerns, or areas of territory emerged during the selection process?
