We’ve partnered up with The Principal

We’re delighted to announce that The Principal Manchester has become our official hotel partner.

Arts and culture are a key part of The Principal Manchester, and supporting emerging artistic talent is at the forefront of their agenda. Here at HOME, the hotel will actively support our visual art strand, and HOME Projects in particular, starting with David Fawcett’s Us, the first public introduction to the Project X Collective who take over HOME with This is Human for the full month of August.

HOME Projects is presented in the Granada Foundation Galleries on levels one and two of our building, giving us an opportunity to encourage a blurring of distinction between gallery, cinema and theatre spaces, straddling both formal and informal presentation- and featuring great, affordable art from North West artists, curators and producers.

With its clock tower and striking Victorian and Edwardian architecture, The Principal is an unmistakable landmark in the city’s skyline. A magnificent, terracotta Grade II listed building, the hotel has a history dating back to 1895, when it first opened as The Refuge Assurance Company headquarters. At the heart of The Principal is the Refuge Dining Room & Public Bar, a partnership with DJs-turned-restaurateurs Luke Cowdrey and Justin Crawford from the award-winning Volta restaurant in West Didsbury.

Peter Kienast, General Manager at The Principal Manchester, said: “Our new partnership with HOME is a great opportunity to connect with the artistic community who make Manchester such a vibrant and exciting city. We’re thrilled to be associated and look forward to a mutually rewarding and creative relationship.”

Marla Cunningham, Development Director, HOME, added: “We are delighted to be working with The Principal as our official hotel partner and key supporter of HOME Projects. Their sponsorship will enable us to work with even more emerging artists throughout the year – an invaluable source of support.”

The Principal Manchester is situated opposite Oxford Road Station and just a 10-minute walk from our venue to the west and Manchester Piccadilly to the east – perfectly placed for business travel, weekend getaways, and of course, visitors to HOME.
