The Young Vic to Bring Macbeth to Our Stage

We are delighted to announce that the Young Vic’s much-anticipated production of William Shakespeare’s Macbeth, a co-production with Birmingham Repertory Theatre in association with Lucy Guerin Inc, will be presented at HOME between Tue 2 – Sat 6 February 2016.

The production, in which director Carrie Cracknell and choreographer Lucy Guerin create a new version of Shakespeare’s supernatural tragedy, stars John Heffernan (Oppenheimer, Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell) as Macbeth, and BAFTA Award-winning Anna Maxwell Martin (South Riding, Poppy Shakespeare) as Lady Macbeth.

Betrayal, jealousy and suspicion reign in Scotland as Shakespeare’s tragedy of the desperate desire for power is redrawn by Cracknell and Guerin. Developing their creative partnership – which started with Medea at the National Theatre – the pair will work with a company of dancers and actors and designer Lizzie Clachan, who weave powerful and unsettling choreography throughout the story.

As we are propelled towards the play’s conclusion and the thundering armies approach, both reason and the text begin to falter and fragment and are overwhelmed by stark and brutal choreography.

Further information on Macbeth at HOME will be announced at our new season launch on 10 September 2015.
