Room 225-6, Book Launch – the tale of an art dealer

Karsten Schubert’s new release Room 225-6 recounts the art dealer’s recovery from cancer, after major thyroid surgery, as he recuperates in Claridge’s Hotel, London.

Schubert converts his ordeal into a work of humour and satire, flitting between fantasy and reality. Describing his post-operation look,

Now I actually look like I had some very expensive cosmetic surgery, you know the type they talk about in Vogue, very discreet, invisible yet not completely, definitely detectable to those in the know, like a very expensive logo-free handbag.’

Room 225-3 follows the Schubert’s experiences as he meanders through the Mayfair art scene, attending tea parties and encountering a host of exuberant characters. The story incorporates a multi-layered voice from the author-character Karsten Schubert aka, ‘The Protagonist’.

The books launch was celebrated at Claridge’s London on Thursday 26 February, a guest at the launch reports on the evening:

‘Toute le monde were present in the French Salon at Claridge’s for the publishing party of the season to launch Karsten Schubert’s novel ‘Room 225-6’.  Several serious, but witty, speeches were made, including one by the author and publisher. A very entertaining read, with all proceeds from the book going towards the Oracle Cancer Trust.’

Room 225-6 is available to buy online here, priced £15.95.
