New Competition for UK-based artists

Are you a UK-based artist and would like to showcase your work to recognised curators and the general public? If so, you’re invited to enter a competition by uploading two dimensional works to Culture Cloud, an exciting new digital project.

Headed up by New Art Exchange in Nottingham, in collaboration with technology providers Artfinder and supported by a network of visual arts organisations including us here at Cornerhouse, Culture Cloud is a digital space for artists to upload their artwork onto a web portal where both recognised curators and public audiences will vote for the works they like.

Entering the competition is simple: simply upload a JPEG of your 2 dimensional artworks to the Culture Cloud website before 4 May 2012.

The most popular and intriguing works will be exhibited at New Art Exchange in August 2012 . There will be 2 winners – a ‘curators choice’ and the ‘public choice’ based on votes from the final stage of the competition, who will receive a cash prize of up to £2000, a personal iPad app and the possibility of a solo show at New Art Exchange in the future.

Of course the audience will play an active role in the curatorial process using the Facebook ‘liking’ system to rate work via the Culture Cloud website, experimenting with ways in which public gallery spaces work with local communities and audiences in curating exhibitions.

So if this sounds like something you’d be interested in visit the Culture Cloud website for more information. Good Luck!
