Manchester’s Fourth re:play Festival

The Library Theatre Company Manchester and Contact have formed a new collaboration to present Manchester’s fourth re:play Festival – the event which brings together the most exciting new theatre from the last 12 months on Manchester’s fringe for an exclusive ‘second chance to see’.

Twenty-four performances will take place across two weeks, Monday 17 – Saturday 29 January 2011 at Contact, featuring new and inspiring theatre from non-traditional venues (Studio Salford, Joshua Brooks, Taurus, and the 24:7 Theatre Festival), giving audiences a chance to catch up on, or re-visit, some of the outstanding work produced over the last year.

The festival also includes the re:play debate, which this year will see Contact’s Artistic Director_Baba Israel_ chair a debate, sure to be a keenly argued discussion, entitled ‘Who Does Theatre Belong To?’, while First Stage is a Festival strand which offers writers, devisers and performers the chance to test ideas under development in front of a public audience.

And new for 2011, Pitch Party will offer young artists the chance to pitch an idea for a new work to The Library Theatre Company and Contact. One pitch will be chosen that night for supported development over the next year.

“We’re delighted to be working with Contact for the fourth re:play Festival,” says Library Theatre Company Artistic Director, Chris Honer.

“This collaboration between our two companies will ensure a richer and more stimulating festival than ever before, as well as being a timely demonstration of what can potentially be achieved when two artistic organisations work in partnership.”

Baba Israel is equally pleased to welcome re:play to the Contact stage. “We are excited to be working alongside the Library Theatre on the 2011 re:play Festival,” he says.

“Contact Theatre is dedicated to supporting new and emerging talent across Greater Manchester, and re:play in 2011 will bring together the best of the best for nearly two weeks of drama, debate, and discovery.”

Tickets will go on sale in the next few weeks and full event details and booking will be available on our website.
