In pictures: Five years of HOME

A lot has happened in five years! Here are just a few of our favourite moments in pictures – share yours by tweeting us @HOME_mcr or tagging us on Instagram, @HOMEmcr.

Work started at First Street in September 2013, and the unmistakable silhouette of HOME soon began to take shape…

Visitors to the building site included our Patron, Danny Boyle, pictured here with our Director & CEO, Dave Moutrey:

HOME’s opening weekend was attended by thousands of people from across the city and beyond:

One of the most asked-about features of HOME is the beehives on our roof. Our team tend to our bees come rain or shine!

We’ve had some unforgettable events over the years…

We’ve brought Manchester a host of festivals, from PUSH to Orbit, Horizons to Viva. Tania Camara’s Oreo (pictured below) was a highlight at this year’s PUSH Festival.

In 2017, we made our first appearance on the National Theatre’s River Stage – HOME’s weekend was such a success, we returned the following year.

Pride has always been a huge part of life in Manchester, and along with programming celebrating this special event, last year we marched in the parade with a very special robot mascot:

For the opening of the Manchester Open Exhibition in January this year, visitors and artists queued out of the door on launch night – even stretching past the statue of Friedrich Engels!

There’s lots more to come!
