Great reviews for The Seagull

Our final production as the Library Theatre Company before we become HOME, Chris Honer’s last production as Artistic Director and our last show at The Lowry – The Seagull is one of the most important shows in our history. It has received high praise from both audiences and the press – have a look at what people have been saying…

Honer has always been possessed of the rare ability to allow a drama to speak for itself…Graeme Hawley brilliantly captures the character’s (Trigorin’s) banality without becoming bland…This radical Seagull makes a fitting swan song.

#TheSeagull is beautifully crafted, smart and honest. Just like the library theatre – 62 years of wonderful theatre.

A fine piece of work…as funny and as incisive as ever…The ensemble cast were each given their opportunity to shine and shine they did…the company are going out on a high note.

Shrewdly revised, terrifically acted and marvellously back-dropped.

A splendid ensemble performance. Does this re-imagining of Chekov’s classic blow the cobwebs away and pass muster today? It surely does.
Manchester Theatre Awards

Really enjoyed The Seagull. Fab adaptation by Anya Reiss and great job by Chris Honer and cast. Made us laugh and cry.

Both the script and acting are loaded with humour… Director Chris Honer, in his final production for the company, sets a languid, nothing-ever-happens-here, atmosphere… It has been literally years since The Library Theatre staged a Chekhov play and the success of The Seagull is such that one hopes they don’t wait as long in the future.
