First Stage & Pitch Party

FIRST STAGE

First Stage offers playwrights the opportunity to test their work in front of an audience. This has become a highlight of the re:play Festival, giving writers a great chance to experience how a script develops from page to stage.

If you have a script that has never been performed before, we want to hear from you. The winning writers will be invited to workshop an extract of their play with a director and actors and then to receive audience feedback on the script-in-hand performance at First Stage 2012.

Submission guidelines:

*Writers must be based in the Greater Manchester area
*Scripts must have reached the end of the first draft

*We cannot accept work that has been performed anywhere previously
*Applicants must be available on Saturday 21st January for rehearsals and the evening of Monday 23rd January for the performance.

*Scripts should be accompanied by a synopsis, a short biog and contact details

Entries to be made by email to FirstStage2012@gmail.com before midnight 16th December 2011

PITCH PARTY

After a hugely successful launch last year, Pitch Party is back!
This unique competition, supported by The Library Theatre Company and The Lowry Studio, is all about finding exciting new stories that can be told in exciting ways.

We want to hear from storytellers, spoken word artists, devisers, puppeteers and theatre makers of all kinds who have an idea for something they think could work on a stage. Send us your idea and you could end up pitching it to a panel of industry experts for the chance to bring your idea to life.

The winner will receive £1000 in development support from the Library Theatre company and space & development opportunities from the Lowry.

Applicants must be available on Friday 20th January to pitch at the event.

Submission guidelines:

*Entrants must be based in Greater Manchester

*Projects must be at the conceptual or R&D stage and must not have been developed previously with another venue or professional theatre organisation.

*Entries to include a synopsis of your idea, a short biog and any supporting material (ie. examples of your past work, photos, audio files, links to video, etc.,) that might help us visualise your project.

Entries to be made by email at PitchParty2012@gmail.com before midnight 16 December 2011.

If you need to send us physical supporting documents, you can post your submission to:
