Calling all whisky fans

Over the next couple of weeks we’ll be getting in a vast selection of whiskys for the downstairs bar. Here’s a selection of some of our stock to wet your whistle…

Suntory Hibiki 17yr 43%vol – As Bill Murray said in Lost in Translation “For a relaxing time … make it Suntory time”. This fantastic Japanese blend is made with aged malt and grain whiskys from Suntory’s three distilleries. Spicy and sophisticated with hints of smoke and toasty wood.

Edradour 54.2%vol – Aged in wine casks (Chateauneuf-du-Pape) to give it a fruity, rich, strawberry jam taste. This whisky is bottled at natural cask strength. Some people suggest to add a little water with strong whiskys but as Michaleen McFlynn says in The Quiet Man “When I drink whisky, I drink whisky; and when I drink water, I drink water.”

Mellow Corn 50%vol This is a proper old school American whisky. Oily with a sweet and spicy flavour. Corn whisky is often refered to as being the kissing cousin of bourbon whisky and was the main ingredient of moonshine in the 20’s or more recently ala György Pálfi’s amazing film Hukkle.
