The Believers Are But Brothers & Letters to Morrissey Win Scotsman Fringe First Awards

Two shows coming up soon at HOME have been announced as the first winners of  a prestigious Scotsman Fringe First Award at the 2017 Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

The Scotsman Fringe First Awards are presented weekly throughout the Fringe, and celebrate outstanding new writing premiered at the Festival.

Gary McNair’s new show, Letters to Morrissey describes how, as a solitary teenager, he found solace in the Manchester music star and wrote to him (fruitlessly) asking for advice. Described by the Scotsman as “a rich, affectionate coming of age story”, the show heads to HOME from Tue 12  – Sat 16 Sep.

We’re delighted to announce that Javaad Alipoor’s The Believers are but Brothers, a co-commission by HOME, Ovalhouse and Transform, was also a winner. The Scotsman’s critic Joyce McMillan praised this thoughtful, visually stunning show as “a vital Fringe event” and you can see it here at HOME as part of Orbit 2017, from Mon 9 – Thu 12 Oct.

Gary McNair’s Letters to Morrissey is in HOME’s Theatre 2 from Tue 12 – Sat 16 Sep.

See The Believers are but Brothers from Mon 09 – Thu 12 Oct as part of Orbit 2017.
