Volunteering

Our fab team of volunteers get involved across our programmes and activities here at HOME. Using their enthusiasm, knowledge and love of HOME, our volunteers help make our venue an exciting and welcoming space to visit and explore.

Many of our volunteers joined us at the very beginning when HOME opened in 2015 and have helped to shape our volunteer scheme. We’ve now got a team of over 50 volunteers who continue to help shape our venue by engaging further with our audiences and connecting us to communities across Manchester.

Volunteer roles

From welcoming audiences and guests to engaging with community groups across Manchester, and lots of exciting projects in between, our volunteer roles at HOME are key to supporting our programme. All volunteers join our HOME team as Front of House supporters and can then progress to specific roles supporting regular events such as Mothers Who Make and our Inspire Community Ticket Scheme, as well as seasonal engagement activities, festivals and events.

As HOME develops, so does our Volunteer Programme and we’re working to create new roles and activities for volunteers to develop experiences and skills.

Want to get involved?

Volunteering is open to anyone over the age of 18 who live or study in Greater Manchester. You don’t need any specific experience or skills, just an enthusiasm to get involved and get stuck in!

If you would like to have a chat to someone about volunteering, you can contact Ella, Volunteer Manager, by emailing volunteers@homemcr.org or by calling 0161 212 3456.

For more info about Volunteer Roles at HOME check out our Volunteering at HOME Info Sheet here.

Volunteering opportunities can vary and sometimes we might not have roles for a couple of months and we may have a range of short term and long term volunteering roles available. Please don’t worry if you don’t hear from us for a while, we’ll get in touch as soon as we have a suitable opportunity and we’re always working to develop our volunteer roles.

HOME can not always support requests for work experience or student placements. However we do have various Work Based Training opportunities throughout the year including paid internships and apprenticeships. If you would like more information about these roles and other opportunities, sign up to our mailing list for a bimonthly work based training newsletter and opportunity announcements.

If you’re not yet 18 don’t worry, we have HOME Young Creatives a programme of free workshops, projects and commissioning opportunities for anyone aged 15 – 25. Find out more here.
