We consider our purchases and actions along every step of our supply and service chains.
Our café bar and restaurant operator Wardley Ltd offer locally sourced and seasonal produce, predominantly supplied in the North West. Local producers supply dairy, fruit and vegetables, meat, sustainably sourced fish, ales and crisps.
With the majority of food choices being prepared from scratch on site, our café and restaurant offer sustainable choices for lunch on the go, a lazy brunch, a Reel Deal meal and film screening, or a pre-theatre dinner. If you choose to select items from our Take HOME menu in the ground floor bar, our food takeaway packaging is fully recyclable.
In line with our Zero-to-Landfill policy, all in-house catering waste is composted, recycled or converted into Waste-to-Energy biofuel. We promote recycling and the use of recycled materials, reducing the consumption of materials wherever possible, and recovering energy from waste.
We are committed to working with local makers, practitioners and creatives. Cornerhouse Publications is our in-house independent publications company, distributing specialist art books from the most innovative publishers, galleries and museums in contemporary visual arts, and producing catalogues for our gallery’s internationally-acclaimed exhibitions. Our Granada Foundation Galleries regularly display the works of local artists, and our ground floor bookshop supports local and independent makers, selling products ranging from prints, zines, books and journals to cards and gifts.
Our sustainable procurement policy ensures that we minimise the carbon footprint of our suppliers, products and services wherever possible. We use energy efficient lighting with LED lamps across the building and use recycled, second hand or new-to-us equipment wherever possible. Our office operates on double-sided and ‘think before you print’ policies, minimising paper consumption and waste. Our Visual Arts team reuse materials across exhibitions and recycle all wood and MDF once no longer fit for purpose. Our Theatre productions source waste and redundant materials and repurpose them for stage sets and, along with our Cinema team, are committed to including sustainable practices and content in their programming.
