A Young Identity Poetry Workshop

Join Saf Elenossi and Ella Otomewo, members of Young Identity – HOME’s resident artists, as they lead a one-off poetry workshop exploring the Black British diaspora, and what home means to you through poetry and the spoken word. Learn to pen a poem or tell a story in this special poetry workshop aimed at people ages 15-25 years old, from Black, Asian and ethnically diverse backgrounds.

Ella Otomewo is a poet who found her voice in the spoken word community years ago, but now writes for both the page and the stage. She has facilitated creative writing workshops in universities, libraries, schools, and at festivals, and has performed all over the UK, as well as in Amsterdam and Berlin. Ella performs her work both solo, and occasionally as part of an ensemble with the renowned spoken word collective, Young Identity. This year she has worked with Manchester International Festival, Contact Theatre, Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights, and Art with Heart.

SAF-S2E is a poet and rapper. He has been part of Manchester’s illustrious poetry collectiv, Young Identity for four years and has performed with them across the U.K. as well as in Berlin and Amsterdam, SAF has also performed solo in multiple events and festivals in the U.K such as Sundown and Latitude. SAF was one of the 6 finalists of BBC Words First 2019 and was featured on the BBC bitesize The Future campaign. His work has also been published in the anthologies ‘Use Words First’ and Young Identity’s ‘No Disclaimers’.
