16 – 25 year old? Interested in breaking into film? Then join our second DIY film challenge, where our panel of industry professionals challenge you to make a short film on your phone (under 3 mins) and be in with a chance to win some development prizes.
Our second DIY film challenge is all about comedy! Make us laugh or even just crack a smile with lots of little lol’s. …..In the run up to Christmas we want you to make a short that cheers us up!
Production value is not as important as bold, original characters that standout from the crowd. Keep it simple and smart, have fun playing with characters, location and costume. Make it visual and grab us in the first 10 seconds. Try your hand at a little musical comedy, slapstick, comedy drama or a sketch! Just enjoy it and we’ll surely enjoy it too.
Entries will be reviewed by the BFI Network team, a guest comedy producer and award-winning North East Comedy Hot House.
The winner will be announced at our online Meet Up, where you will get to watch some of the shortlisted films and get some top tips from our industry pals. We’ll also reveal what the next DIY film making challenge will be!
The winner will receive a £200 development bursary and 1-2-1 with a BFI Network exec and Film 4 and their work will be shown at a special cinema screening at HOME in Manchester and online.
