Dogman

Directed by Matteo Garrone

Marcello Fonte is terrific as Marcello, a timid dog lover with his own pet grooming business. Though not averse to petty crime, he is a respected member of a working class neighbourhood in the Camorra-ridden hinterlands of Naples. However, he is also involved in a relationship of subjugation with the bruising Simone (Pesce), a former boxer who instils terror into the coastal community. Merging social realism with an urban Western scenario, this is an intense and brooding work.
