Pa negre

In post-civil war Cataluña 11-year-old Andreu discovers the bodies of Dionís and his son in the woods. Was it the work of the ghost ‘Pitorliua’? Or did they die at the hands of Andreu’s Republican father? In the aftermath of the killing the young boy begins to unearth more than he bargained for as his family’s dark secrets slowly come to light, profoundly changing the way he sees the world around him.

Pa negre is a beautiful, bleakly compelling film that was awarded 9 Goyas in 2011, including Best Film and Best Director, becoming the first ever Catalan-language winner of the Best Film Goya.
