Nosferatu marked the first appearance on screen of Bram Stoker’s Dracula, and it remains the eeriest of the many film versions of the famous tale. Murnau’s use of real locations, special effects and his casting of Max Schreck as the spectral figure of Dracula make this one of the director’s most innovative works.
