Masaan

Directed by Neeraj Ghaywan

An Indo-French co-production and winner of two prizes at the Cannes Film Festival, director Neeraj Ghaywan’s debut feature (written by Varun Grover – Sacred Games) is an understated, multi-narrative work and features rising star Vicky Kaushal (Raazi) in the role of a lower caste boy from the Dom community. The ancient city of Varanasi provides a beguiling backdrop to the interconnected lives of the characters, much of which seems to pivot on caste anxieties.
