A key figure of the ’60s and ’70s, director Felipe Cazals continues his innovative explorations of the darker side of Mexico’s socio-political history. This magic realist-influenced film revisits early 20th century Mexico and the eponymous bar, Las vueltas del citrillo, where soldiers and their women meet, the pulque flows and stories are spun as poverty smothers the country.
