From Caligari to Hitler: German Cinema in the Age of the Masses

Directed by Rüdiger Suchsland

Rüdiger Suchsland’s riveting documentary tells the story of German Cinema in the Twenties between Expressionism and New Sobriety. This was arguably the most important period of German Cinema, a time full of wonders and invention in which the  aesthetic foundations were laid for the “seventh art”. An entertaining trip into the abyss of sub-consciousness, the breadth and diversity of archive clips and interview subjects is astonishing.
