Four Lions

Directed by Chris Morris

A group of British jihadists’ dreams of glory are hampered by ideological clashes, as well as idiocy and ineptitude. An engaging comedy from the director of Brass Eye and writers of Peep Show, which effectively utilises farce to illuminate modern terrorism.

Selected for That’s a Wrap by Nandita Joshi and Chris Unwin:

Whether it wanted to take part or not, Cornerhouse has been the backdrop to so many great events of my last 15 years. In Feb 2003, my now husband and I had our first kiss outside its window. We were only 17 so thanks for serving us! In April 2012 he proposed outside that same window. Due to the size of my big fat Indian wedding we couldn’t get married there.
Unfortunately we saw this film in an empty Odeon cinema in Plymouth. It shines humour on what is becoming an all too familiar reality in big cities. But for an Asian girl from Yorkshire and her overly romantic husband it would be the perfect farewell to such an important building in our lives.
