Café de Flore

Directed by Jean-Marc Vallée

French Canadian director Jean-Marc Vallée (The Young Victoria and C.R.A.Z.Y.) returns with a vibrant and elegant film telling two seemingly unrelated but intrinsically inter-connected stories of love.

Set in present-day Montreal, the first story follows successful DJ Antoine as he pieces together his life following the breakdown of his marriage to his childhood sweetheart. Balancing his demanding career with his responsibilities as a father, his passionate relationship with new love Rose, and appeasing his ex-wife Carole, Antoine is unaware that Carole secretly hopes that one day he will return to her. In the second story, Vanessa Paradis excels as Jacqueline, a struggling single-mother in 1969 Paris, who is fiercely devoted to her son Laurent who has Down’s syndrome.

Spanning five decades and two vastly different lifestyles, Café de Flore is a mystical and supernatural odyssey of love which weaves together memories and moments to explore the lives of two people whose lives are shaken by extraordinary moments of passion.
