Vogue Fashion’s Night Out/ That Dame Upstairs: Life drawing and photography drop-in

Manchester’s underground performance collective The Sisters Gorgeous plus guest D Lucille Campbell of glam electro-goth outfit Die Hexen will host a life drawing drop-in and photography session in the galleries, painted, styled and clad in a fully monochrome palette for a DIY evening inspired by film noir icons.

Reach for your pencils to capture razor-sharp cheekbones, or, if you have a camera, step into a domestic mise-en-scène, populated with vintage furniture, to direct and manipulate the living mannequins into a pose. Expect occasional lip-syncs of classic noir monologues as the statues momentarily spring to life.

Throughout the evening, Vintage 78 DJs will play a 1940s and 1950s soundtrack on original shellac and vinyl records, using restored gramophones. Manchester’s storytelling collective, Tales of Whatever, will also deliver live, stand-up accounts within the galleries, sharing contemporary first-person tales teased from their memories by our exhibition themes.
