Join us to celebrate the opening of this new exhibition of LA-based artist Stanya Kahn’s work, her first major UK solo exhibition.
Using humour as a central device, It’s Cool, I’m Good will present a selection of videos and drawings, characterised by the artist’s signature blend of dark comedy, visceral characters and reluctant optimism. Kahn appears as the lead protagonist in several of her videos, be it a heavily bandaged tragicomic hero (It’s Cool, I’m Good / 2010), to her performance on the streets of LA dressed as a wise-cracking giant foam penis (Lookin’ Good, Feelin’ Good / 2012).
Our preview also marks the launch of a new catalogue to accompany the exhibition, including contextual essays and a wealth of imagery, distributed internationally by Cornerhouse Publications.
