Narrative, Realism and Representation Study Day: Wadjda

Recommended for: AS/A2 and equivalent level Film & Media Studies

Capacity: 158 places

This event will use the film, Wadjda to help consolidate students’ understanding of aspects of the key concepts of narrative, film language and representation. Wadjda is an accessible film with a simple story but an unusual social context in which all aspects of social life are heavily gendered. It also draws to a certain extent on the classic film Bicycle Thieves (Italy 1948) – an inspiration for many filmmakers. Students will be encouraged to discuss specific key concept questions based on the film after the screening.

Led by Roy Stafford, Freelance Film Lecturer
