Taking award-winning playwright Ronald Schimmelpfennig’s play, The Woman Before, Berlin-based theatre director Lily Sykes leads this three-day workshop exploring different approaches to directing text and constructing rehearsals. An invaluable insight into German rehearsal practice for emerging and established theatre makers.
Lily was a staff director at Schauspiel Frankfurt, the state theatre in Frankfurt am Main, Germany from 2009 – 2012. Her production of Steilwand (Sea Wall) was shortlisted for the Autorentheatertage Festival at the Deutsches Theater, Berlin and has been invited to the Kaltstart Festival in Hamburg. For her production of Die Bürgschaft (The Hostage) she was nominated by the magazine Theater Heute as Young Director of the year.
Her production of The Secret Garden was invited to the Westwind Festival 2013 and won the Oberhausen Theatre Prize. She is a founder member of the International Theatre Ensemble Aitherios Theatre.
