To celebrate the UK premiere of Open 24 at ¡Viva!, we are pleased to welcome director Carles Torras to Manchester, for a post-screening Q&A following the Fri 9 March screening of Open 24H.

The young Catalan filmmaker, born Barcelona 1974, honed his cinematographic skills at film school and a series of master classes with such international cinema luminaries as Ridley Scott and Stephen Frears. He went on to attract widespread praise from critics and audiences alike with his directorial debut Joves in 2004, co-directed with Ramón Térmens, and second feature film Trash in 2009.

His third film is his most personal to date, in which Torras enjoyed the freedom and independence derived from being both director and producer. Here he brings a shadowy, expressionist atmosphere to this exploration of social alienation and psychological deterioration.
