Curious School of Puppetry: A Taster-day Workshop

This workshop in performing with puppets will explore the different ways in which an object can be brought to life through:

  • Breath and a sense of being
  • Focus and eye-line
  • Moving with impulse and gravity

From everyday materials to three person figures we will consider operating techniques, character tempo and how to communicate narrative through movement. We will see how puppets can imitate reality and discover the extraordinary other worlds they can lead us to!

The workshop is open to all enthusiasts, artists and theatre makers, whatever your puppetry experience. Designed to offer an open door to beginners, for actors/dancers to experiment in a new form and to offer emerging puppeteers further training and engagement with the profession.

This workshop is run by the Head of Curious School of Puppetry, Sarah Wright who is a puppet director and maker on 946: The Amazing Story of Adolphus Tips and an associate artist of Kneehigh.

Curious School of Puppetry also runs a 10-week full-time course in London. For more details visit Curious Puppetry website.
