Course: An Introduction to Directing

Have you ever wondered what goes on inside a rehearsal room? Would you like to find out more about the role of a theatre director?

Are you aged between 18 to 30?

This summer we are running an intensive directing course for young adults aged 18-30. This introductory course will give participants the opportunity to find out more about the world of theatre directing. Through daily practical workshops led by professional theatre director and BBC Performing Arts Fellow Rikki Henry, participants will have the opportunity to develop their practical directing skills and knowledge.

The course will:

  • Develop an understanding of planning and running a rehearsal.
  • Equip participants with a range of practical skills for working with actors and approaching texts.
  • Offer an insight into different practices through masterclasses with industry professionals.
  • Provide an opportunity to direct a short scene with professional actors.
