Journeys Festival International: Coffee Shop Conversation

Coffee Shop Conversations are an opportunity to discuss and exchange views with refugee and asylum seeker artists over the domestic ritual of coffee and cake. We want to encourage greater understanding, tolerance and ultimately greater community cohesion through these events and take a small step towards tackling the issues of isolation, misconception and alienation.

How can we share stories and experiences of female refugees and asylum seekers? Join director of pop-up theatre piece Standing in my Own Truth, Rachel Brogan and Woman of the Year 2016 (Women on the Move Awards), Mariam Ibrahim Yusuf to discuss their work as advocates for those who often do not have a voice.

Complimentary refreshments will be served.

Journeys Festival began in 2013. Its core aim is to celebrate and highlight the extraordinary and powerful artwork, music, creativity, culture and experiences that refugee artists bring to the UK.
