We help switch on the Christmas Lights

Over 20,000 people braved the rain on Friday evening to watch Manchester’s famous Christmas lights being turned on in Albert Square.

Judging by the crowd’s reaction, most of them had come to see boy band The Wanted, not to mention Manchester’s very own Misha B. But there was still a healthy cheer for Rokhsaneh Ghawam-Shahidi and Paul Barnhill, two of the cast of our production of Arabian Nights, who were part of the two hour extravaganza.

Chelsea and Mike from Key 103’s breakfast show welcomed our pair on stage to ask them how rehearsals were going and what it was like to play half-a-dozen roles over a six week period over Christmas. “Hectic” was the answer!

The festivities ended with a spectacular firework display and an appearance from Coronation Street actor Anthony Cotton as the mystery Santa.
