Five reasons to see Arabian Nights

We know that Arabian Nights is one of the top shows to see in the region at the moment, and here’s five reasons why…

1: It’s very different – it’s not often you see the Quays Theatre space in The Lowry in the round, and if any show was meant to be seen in this way, it’s this production. There’s so much going on!

2: The acting company – Our director Amy Leach has assembled a tip-top cast for the production. And it’s headed up by Rokhsaneh Ghawam-Shahidi, who looks a little bit different from her years as farm shop owner Leyla Harding in ITV’s Emmerdale.

3: The set and costumes – The set is lavish and economical at the same time, with some truly astonishing costumes worn by the nine strong cast. Keep your eyes peeled and you might even spot some of the actors change costume on stage!

4: This is proper storytelling – It’s all about the stories with a piece of theatre, and in Arabian Nights you get no fewer than seven of them, all expertly told and beautifully presented.

5: The music – Not only do you get a fantastic piece of theatre for your money, you also get a specially composed score written by musician Arun Ghosh, one of the leading lights of the burgeoning British Indo-jazz scene.

So there you have it – you’ve no excuse! Arabian Nights runs until Sat 12 Jan 2013. Tickets are available here or from The Lowry Box Office on 0843 208 6010.
