Today was one of our favourite days in the calendar – the Manchester Christmas Lights switch on.
Every year we take a few of the cast along and they get to go on the stage and promote our Christmas show, which this year is A Christmas Carol. And it was the turn of David Beames (Ebenezer Scrooge) and Lisa Kerr (Belle) to do the honours, accompanied by myself to make sure it all went off to plan.
We had a wait of about 30 minutes in the holding area in the company of Santa Claus no less and some people we think were elves? After our 2 minutes on stage and some food, it was time to mingle with the celebrities for all of 30 seconds before switching on the lights. The light switch on is always a fun night and a once in a lifetime chance for our actors to be part of something this huge. Until next year …
